Can't judge a book by it's cover!

An old saying, but never so true...
Don't judge a book by it's cover!
Oh My, Susan Boyle rocked the Brittish competion!
Awesome!

P90X? Or P90 Master Series?

As usual I probably bit off more than I can chew.
I have a habit of jumping into things without being fully prepares.
I recently purchased P90X off of Ebay. it is an extreme work out series of 13 dvd's. I then found out I needed a chin up, pull up bar, so I bought a nice one of those too...
I have a friend who has completed P90x so I called her to get dome advice... she told me that I probably should start with P90 Master series. A couple of reasons is because I am 50 years old, and haven't been active in sports for about 4-5 years. Also,. I will want to know the "Moves" before attempting P90X!
She lent me two dvd's from the P90 Master Series. Today i attempted the "sculpting" dvd. It was very tough, but not impossible. I completed the workout. It was about 45 minutes with stretching on both ends of the work out.
I found myself not knowing much of how the moves were done, so my friend was correct.
Also am trying to figure out how much weight to use for the exercises for the first time is a challenge as well. I think it will improve over time!
Now I am thinking I would like the whole P90 masters series to work out with for a month before doing the P90X.
Yesterday I asked Eric if he was always sore from working out? His reply, "Pretty much!" lol
Great, that's something to look forward to forever...

Golf with Eric & Dale

Nice day today, I took off work and got up early to meet my Friend Dale at MapleWood golf course in Renton.
Eric and I arrived early, we noticed the greens had been "top dressed" with a thick layer of sand. This was unacceptable.
So we called Elk Run In Maple Valley and golfed there instead.
We started on the back nine as the men's club was piling up on the first tee...
None of us golfed particularly well, but we had a good time. I had two birdies and some pars, but lots of blow up holes too.
Eric had the shot of the day with a 60 foot snake of a putt on hole number 7 for a par!
The course was in need of some mowing as the rough was... well, rough! The greens were slow but true and not sandy!
We had a good time as is expected when away from the world for a few hours! That's my boy!A man now, home from two tours in Iraq!
I am a very proud papa!

Home on Leave

Eric arrived home last Monday night at 10:30.
Joan picked him up from the airport and brought him by my work place.
Several of the guys I work with came out and welcomed him home! They all thanked him for his service to our country. Nice gesture!
I appreciated it!
He got back from his second tour of Iraq on March 29th. He spent the last tree weeks in San Diego, re acquainting himself with American life. His good friend and Marine Jonny Bobgan was there to welcome him back! They spent several days tossing a Frisbee at Laguna Beach in San Diego. Thanks Jon!
Eric has been enjoying some of mom's home cooking and some of dad's BBQing. Sleeping in late and generally just "chillin."
Yesterday we spent the day in Seattle at Pike Place market and then walked to Seattle Center. Katie and Eric went up the Space Needle for their first time.
It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our visit!

Haha, White balls O Hail

Monday at 12:30 pm, I was awoken by what I thought was the sound of pine cones falling on the roof...
It was a nice plop, plop, to begin with, then all of a sudden, it was a shower, I jumped outta bed, (not a pretty sight), and raced to the window, Hail balls coming down, my wife had just left and I knew she was on the road somewhere, I was wondering how she and the car were fairing!
They were pretty good sized hail balls!
Lasted about 5 minutes, White everywhere, more of that global warming I've heard tell about? LOL

SonRise Sunday

Easter Sunday...
Got up at 4:45 am and went to Sun rise service.
My pastor hood winked me into going to this early service by asking me to play Amazing Grace on the harmonica. I quickly replied that I would and then realized what I had gotten myself into! LOL!

My daughter joined me as she too was hood winked into reading a part from a short script, actually it was a good service attended by about 33 people, regular services were four hours later!

Ocean Break!

Last Wednesday, I got off work at 6am, headed home, and rested for a few hours, about 11 am we drove to Ocean Shores to spend a few days with our friends the McDowells!
We took Cub, our dog along.
We had a good time searching for rocks and shells at the waters edge. We had excellent food every day, Salmon, shrimp, ribs and a tradition with the Flynn-McDowells, RBF's... Root Beer Floats for the uninitiated!!!
Dale also prepared a special treat, French Onion Soup!

I know it looks like all we did was eat, and eat.... well we did... Cookies too!
hahaha, guess my work out plan and diet are off for now!
Katie is now 16 and has a drivers permit. Everywhere we went she drove us! We went places we didn't have to go, so she could drive us, she suggested places to go, so she could drive us!
It was great to get away for awhile!

Sweet Sixteen

Today is Katie's 16th birthday. It was a simple occasion we had. Eric is in San Diego, Ryan is in Colorado. It is almost like she is an only child.
Because of the money we are forking out to send her to Australia later this year, we got just a simple gift and enjoyed(?) a meal out!
Her brother Eric called and spent soem time with her on the phone, that is always a nice gift!
It has always been our custom for the birthday child to pick their favorite meal. This is a custom passed down from my mom. Normally my mom would cook the meal. Joan is real good about this too. lately some of the kids have wanted to pick a restaurant.
Katie did just that. She chose a place called "Soup-er Pho."
Joan,Katie and I have never eaten Pho phood before.
Probably won't eat it again either.
While the food tasted good. It was different, and not enough to fill me up.
I figure if I'm going to spend good money on a birthday dinner, the food should be better than what we got. We all agreed, we would have enjoyed going to our favorite Teriyaki place. But hey, we enjoyed the experience and the time together.
Now we know!
Later in the evening Katie opened her gift!
Rock band two.
Her Friend Brianna came over and we sang Happy Birthday and Katie blew out the candles.
Man, it is weird that she is sixteen!

Scam

I posted some things for sale on Craigslist about a week or so ago.
Table and chairs, some other furniture.
Received some interesting offers from people in other states.
Here's one I believe to be a scam...
Today I received two checks for $750.00, that totals $1500.00 for a table set that I listed for $125.00...
Hello
Thanks for your response, will you accept Money Order as a mode of

name, address and your phone number so that i can forward it to my
Assistant
to send the payment to you.I will be offering you $30 extra to hold the
item
for me for some days.To expedite this transaction for both of us to
avoid stress.I have conclude arrangement with a moving company, they would be
responsible for the packing and picking up of the item. This will make me to
be sending you extra fund because the moving company need their payment
before embarking on any transaction of picking up item.
I have included their fee in the payment you will be receiving, the amount
covers for all logistic needed to pick up the item from you. When you
receive the Money Order get it cashed at your bank and deduct the cost of
your item and the $30 i offered you for holding it for me, then you send
the
balance to the moving company via Money Gram or Western Union before
pickup can be effected.Let me know if this is OK by you, because i want this
transaction to be as smooth for both side.Get back to me so that i will know
the status of things. until i hear from you my regards to you and you family.

I replied:
that is all fine with me, one thing I require of you is that you allow me to hold the shipment until the Money Order you send me clears the bank.
That way I'll know that your money is good and that everything is "aboveboard."
Or, you can send me cash thru the mail in a manila envelope.
If that is agreeable, we have a deal.
Tim

Oh My

Wednesday began starting to lift some weights again, I got on the scale at 194 pounds.
No wonder my knees hurt! Actually on Feb. 7 I started taking Celladren for my knees, seems to be working.
So, I spent ten minutes on the recumbent bike, and did three sets of pull downs for my triceps with 40 lbs.
Three sets of curls with the 40 pound bar and three sets of bench press with 80 pounds. The sets consisted of ten reps each.
I put this here now as a starting reference point.
I purchased the P90X a few days ago and am expecting it any day in the mail.
I guess I will have to take some before and after pics.
P90X is an initial 90 day program.

Since writing the above several days have passed, I have done two more simple work outs similar to that above.

Passion

With Easter Sunday rapidly approaching, I thought it would be good for our men's bible study group to watch The Passion of the Christ.
It is hard to believe that this great movie came out five years ago in 2004.
How time is flying bye, bye!
Three of the men in out study group had never seen the movie, one had seen it, but not really as he admitted to falling asleep during it. How could you fall asleep during this movie? I asked him. He replied that he had been drinking and passed out... O.K....
Anyway, we all enjoyed watching this movie. It brought out many emotions and thoughts.
There were nine of us that partook of this movie. We are all at differing levels of Christ awareness as we travel on our walk with Him.
It was very interesting to discuss the film afterwards with some of us "drinking milk," some of us "eating porridge" and some of us "chewing on meat."
What that means is that we are all needing food, but different types of food so that we can chew it up and digest it and use it later.
Spiritual food is what I am getting at.
We were all fed by this movie, where we each individually are at.
That is awesome!
Like God's word the bible, it feeds us where we are are at!
We spoke of the cross that Jesus bore up the hill to Golgotha. How it was a heavy burden for him. How it was not His cross to bear. How He did not want to bear it (Take this cup from me). How he bore it anyway willingly,(Father, not my will, but your will be done)He showed His obedience to His Father.
How he stumbled carrying this heavy cross, and He did not ask for help, but nonetheless, He needed, and received help to carry this heavy burden.

We discussed how it was not just Jews who crucified Jesus on the cross, but how gentiles were responsible as well. (All have sinned and fallen short)
How this inclusion of everyone points to how His death and resurrection cleanses all.

Many of the same people that welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem as the Savior, the King, the Messiah just a few days earlier, are the the same ones that condemned him later and screamed for His crucifixion. How this image is an image of many of us who proclaim Jesus as Lord, yet we turn our backs and spit upon Him by continuing in our sinful ways, or as Peter did, deny Him to the world.
We all are guilty of these things at different times.
And yet...
God sent Him to do this very thing, for us, all of us.
So that we might know, and become one with Him for all eternity.

A very powerful movie.
See it again!
